Features & How to Use Them

Tags & Filtering

Events and venues are categorized with searchable, filterable tags. These include boroughs (e.g. Manhattan, Brooklyn), neighborhoods (e.g. Williamsburg, Astoria), and venue attributes like "Adults Only" or "Can Bring in Food." Use tags to narrow down search results and create subscriptions for automatic notifications.

Finding Events

• Event Search: Browse and filter events by keyword, tags, location/radius, date range, and attributes (family-friendly, pet-friendly, beginner-friendly, 21+). Sort by soonest, nearest, or most popular. No login required.
• Calendar View: See events on a monthly grid or agenda list. Filter by tags, navigate months, and click any day for details. Export to Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or Outlook.
• Map View: Interactive map showing nearby events and venues as pins. Zoom, pan, and click pins for details.
• What's Near Me Now: The home page shows active hangouts, today's events, and potential events gathering interest near your location.

Event Details & Interaction

• Event Pages: Full info: date/time, venue, description, tags, attendee count, images, weather forecast (within 14 days), transit directions, and stream embeds (Twitch/YouTube). See who's going, with friends highlighted.
• RSVP: One click to attend or cancel. RSVPing auto-bookmarks the event. View the full attendee list anytime.
• Bookmarks: Save events you're interested in without committing to RSVP. Find them on your dashboard.
• Comments & Q&A: Ask questions or discuss on any event. The system detects duplicate questions and surfaces existing answers. Organizers can pin important replies as FAQ.
• Carpool Board: Coordinate rides to events. Post your origin area and available seats, or flag that you need a ride. 18+ only.
• Event Check-In: Organizers can check in attendees manually, or attendees can use a QR code for self-check-in.

Creating & Managing Events

• Create Events: Set title, description, date/time, venue, capacity, tags, images, entry fee, prize pool, charity/donation links, payment handles, and more. Choose location visibility (public, reveal on RSVP, or reveal on approval).
• Potential Events: Create an event marked as "gauging interest" to see if people are interested before committing. Promote to confirmed later.
• Co-Organizers: Add other users as co-organizers who get full editing rights.
• Event Series: Group recurring events into a series with shared standings and history.
• Clone Events: Duplicate a public event as a starting point for a new one.
• Private Event Links: Generate invite-only links with optional expiration and max uses. Share privately without the event appearing in search.
• Event Results: Enter results/standings (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.) manually, or auto-import from tournament platforms.

Pinball-Specific Features

• Matchplay Integration: Enter a Matchplay tournament ID when creating an event to auto-fill name, time, timezone, and venue. Live bracket links shown on event pages.
• IFPA Integration: Link IFPA tournament IDs to events. Upcoming IFPA tournaments shown on venue pages. IFPA ratings cached for leaderboards.
• Pinball Metadata: Set qualifying format, finals format, number of rounds, director, IFPA sanctioned status, and more.
• High Score Logging: Log your high scores by venue and machine. View your personal bests and venue leaderboards, with optional friends-only filtering.

Venues

• Venue Search: Find venues by name, location/radius, minimum machine count, or tags. Sort by distance, machine count, or alphabetically.
• Venue Pages: See address, hours, map, machine list (from Pinball Map), upcoming events, venue perks, and tags. Get transit directions via Google Maps, Apple Maps, bike, or walking.
• Venue Perks: Community-sourced positive attributes (Has Food, Free Parking, etc.). Upvote perks others have added.
• Favorite Venues: Heart a venue to save it to your dashboard and get notified of machine changes.

PvP Challenges

• Challenge Friends: Challenge friends to competitive play at a venue. Select opponents, pick a venue, and choose machines from the venue's machine list.
• Challenge Lifecycle: Challenges expire after 3 hours if no one accepts. Once accepted, any participant can add games on the fly, record results (winner, scores, optional Pindigo link), and mark the challenge complete.
• Head-to-Head Stats: View your W-L record against any opponent over 30-day, 90-day, and all-time windows. Also supports group stats across multiple players.
• Personal High Scores: Scores entered during challenges automatically update your personal high scores and venue leaderboards.
• Challenge Stats Page: See recent results, search opponents for head-to-head records, and browse your personal high score table.

Venue Leaderboards

• Per-Machine Leaderboards: Venue detail pages show an expandable accordion per machine with the top 10 scores. Filter by This Month, This Year, or All Time.
• Score Sources: Scores come from PvP challenge results (automatic) or Pindigo share links (manual submission).
• Pindigo Integration: Submit a Pindigo share URL and the system extracts score, machine, venue, and player data automatically. Venues and machines are cross-referenced with Pindigo IDs for future matching.
• Score Management: Edit or delete your own scores; admins can manage any score.

Hangouts (Now Playing)

• Broadcast Presence: Let people know you're playing somewhere right now. Lightweight, auto-expires after a set time. 18+ only.
• Join Hangouts: See active hangouts nearby and mark yourself as "Going," "On my way," or "May show up."

Groups & Communities

• Create or Join Groups: Public groups are open to all. Visible/closed groups require a request or invite. Private groups are invite-only and hidden from search.
• Group Events: Events can be posted to one or more groups. Private group events can optionally be made public.

Social Features

• Friends: Send and accept friend requests. See friends' RSVPs on events, get notified when friends create events, and compare on leaderboards.
• Friend Leaderboards: Dashboard widget showing IFPA rankings, Matchplay ratings, and high scores among your friends.

Subscriptions & Notifications

• Custom Subscriptions: Set up alerts based on tags, distance, date ranges, or groups. Choose ANY (match any tag) or ALL (match all tags). Get notified via email, in-app, or both.
• Quick-Follow: One-click "+" on any location tag in search to instantly subscribe to events in that area.
• Weekly Digest: Opt into a Monday morning email listing the week's upcoming events that match your subscriptions.
• Machine Change Alerts: Get notified when machines are added or removed at your favorite venues.
• Quiet Hours: Set do-not-disturb windows; notifications queue and deliver after.

Profile & Customization

• Profile: Set display name, alias, bio, and profile picture. Control visibility of each field (public, logged-in users only, or private).
• Themes: Choose from 7 built-in themes (including 3 colorblind-safe options), or build your own custom theme with a 10-color palette.
• Community Theme Gallery: Browse, upvote, and use themes created by other users. Submit yours for inclusion as a "core" theme.
• Display Preferences: Toggle maps on/off, hide transit options, set default event search range.
• Competitive IDs: Link your IFPA and Matchplay IDs to show ratings on leaderboards.

Dashboard

• Notifications: Unread alerts for friend requests, event changes, subscription matches, and machine changes.
• My Events: Toggle between upcoming and past RSVPed events.
• My Friends: View friends list, search and add new friends.
• Favorite Venues: Quick access to saved venues.
• My Groups: Groups you've joined and your role in each.
• Nearby Hangouts: Active hangouts near you.
• Friend Leaderboards: IFPA, Matchplay, and venue high score tabs.

Account & Privacy

• Account Deletion: Full deletion with data export. Personal data is removed; events/comments are anonymized to "deleted user."
• Location Visibility: Event creators choose whether the address is public, revealed on RSVP, or revealed only after organizer approval.
• Profile Visibility: Control who sees your display name, bio, and photo.

Accessibility

• Multilingual: English, Spanish, French, and Polish translations throughout the site.
• Colorblind-Safe Themes: Protanopia, deuteranopia, and tritanopia-safe theme options built in.
