Terms of Service
Effective date: March 30, 2026
1. About This Platform
Events ("the Platform", "we", "us") is an open event listing and discovery service. We provide tools for users to find, share, and organize events in their community. The Platform is governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States.
By using this Platform, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
2. Scope of Service — Listing and Discovery Only
This Platform is an event listing and discovery service only. We do not organize, host, run, or participate in any event listed on the Platform. We have no liability for actual events, their organization, safety, or outcomes.
- Event organizers bear full responsibility for the events they list, including their accuracy, legality, and safety.
- We do not endorse, vet, or guarantee any event, organizer, or venue listed on the Platform.
- Users attend events at their own risk.
3. Who Can Use This Platform
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. Users under 13 may browse public events without an account but may not register. Some features are restricted to users 18 and older (see Section 7).
By creating an account, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you meet the minimum age requirement.
4. Organizer Responsibility
When you publish your first event, you acknowledge the following:
You are responsible for the event you are listing. By publishing, you confirm that the event details are accurate and that you have authority to list this event. The Platform provides discovery and communication tools — it does not organize, endorse, or assume liability for any event.
This acknowledgment covers all subsequent events you publish. There is no separate organizer agreement — this Terms of Service governs all users, including those who create events.
5. User-Generated Content
You retain ownership of content you submit (event listings, comments, photos, etc.). By submitting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display and distribute that content on the Platform.
You are solely responsible for content you post. You agree not to post content that is false, misleading, harmful, harassing, or in violation of any applicable law.
We reserve the right to remove content that violates these Terms or our community standards, and to suspend or ban accounts that repeatedly or seriously violate these Terms.
6. Payments and Donations
We do not process payments. If an event lists a payment handle (Venmo, PayPal, etc.) or a donation link, any transaction occurs directly between you and the event organizer or recipient. We are not a party to those transactions and assume no liability for them.
Individual donation and payment information is kept private. See our Privacy Policy for details.
7. Age-Restricted Features
The following features are only available to users who are 18 years of age or older:
- Hangouts / Now Playing — broadcasting real-time location
- Carpool / Ride Sharing — coordinating travel with other users
These restrictions are enforced automatically based on date of birth provided at registration and lift when you turn 18.
8. Privacy
Your use of the Platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
9. Intellectual Property — Third-Party Event Data
When events are ingested from external sources, we store only factual data (date, time, location, title) that constitutes unprotectable facts. We do not reproduce proprietary descriptions or copyrighted material without permission. Original source links are preserved as attribution metadata.
If you believe content on the Platform infringes your copyright, please contact us with a DMCA takedown notice at the contact information below.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by New York law, the Platform and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform or attendance at any event listed on it.
Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Platform is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim (which may be zero, as the core Platform is free).
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email or by posting a notice on the Platform. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of New York State.
13. Contact
